The series is a visual interpretation of shadows and the figure. I try to create a blueprint of every possible line on the given image; stripping it down to the shape and depth of the figure. It is about exploring what brings the figure to life through heavy lines that blend seamlessly from figure to the shadows created by them. The lines that define the figure and shadows are the same width unless there is a light shadow defined by small streaks. The one right angle frame is provide context of size and depth behind each piece. The materials are simple paper, pencil, and ink. The finished product is generally scanned and edited through photoshop to make further corrections by defining the lines to bring clarity to each piece.
The series is an ongoing practice that is expanding into experimentation with colour and figures, while maintaining the basis of the strong lines and framing.
